Absolutely. The only LEGAL way to accomplish this is to have an approved DOT sleeper, which requires major modifications to a standard crew-cab pickup, unless the pickup and trailer are under 10,000 lb. when weighed together.
For example: A single-ton Dodge Ram 3500 has a GVWR of 11,000 lb. with a gooseneck tandem axle trailer with 7,000 lb. axles. The Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) is 25,000 lb., which requires a 10-hour reset after 11 hours of driving or 14 hours of on-duty time.
A second driver in this instance would not be compliant as their off-duty time was not spent in a DOT approved sleeper.
